Barone performed the role of Gail Cunningham in The Shoes from Seinfeld season four. She played a cook named Elaine Benes who wanted shoes. Barone was one of the cast members of Carol & Company, starring with Carol Burnett in the early 1990s. Barone had played the role of Carol Willick Ross Geller's husband in Friends' first ever appearance. Jane Sibbett took over her role after Barone quit the show to pursue full-time work.
